Alright, y’all. Reveal time. The new song is done. I’m calling it “Us vs. Them”. I’ve always been guilty of giving songs cryptic titles. Maybe I’ve done that again. Do you get why it’s called “Us vs. Them”? Gold star for you, if so.
I’m very happy with how this song turned out. I think it’s quite good. It has teeth. Like I said before, I’m thinking I’ll include it on my next album. There’s a chance I’ll re-record the vocals. We’ll see.
Most of the next album will be made up of beats and ideas that weren’t used for Super Dope. I’ve been making new beats the last few weeks. I plan to spend this coming weekend listening to a ton of records in the hopes of finding ideas for a few more beats. The ball is rolling. I’d love to finish the album by Halloween. Wish me luck.
So! Without any further ado, here’s “Us vs. Them”:
What do you think? Did you enjoy this process of seeing how a song comes together? What you’ve seen and heard over the last month is pretty much standard procedure for me these days. Maybe we’ll do it again sometime.

On a side note, yesterday was a good day for a few reasons. First of all, finishing a new song which always feels good. Secondly, I scored a copy of my #1 most-wanted record. I’m beyond psyched. Funny thing is, I had been negotiating with a guy from Japan for a copy in worse condition than the one I found. And I was about to trade him one of the biggest prizes in my collection for it. Now I don’t have to do that, which is a relief. Holy shit, I can’t believe I found this record. I’d been looking for over 30 years.
In the next post, I want to share some thoughts about hip hop, its history and the book I just finished reading - The Come Up by Jonathan Abrams, which has raised a lot of questions in my mind. I also want to talk to you more about the Live Convention, which is happening in Toronto next month.
Oh! And a big shout out to everyone who bought the Drum Studies on Bandcamp. Your support has been immensely helpful. Thankyouthankyouthankyou.
Until next time!
