Posting Up
My dudes…
Just a quick note to update you on your orders for King Of Drums cassettes and CDs.
I’ve been working like a madman the last few weeks. I’ve basically had to set up a small business in my kitchen. I had to buy a bunch of gear and learn a few new skills but your orders have been processed.
As you can see in the photo above, your items will be coming to you in a deluxe teal-colored padded envelope. Until your parcel arrives at your door, I’ll be praying that the padded envelope - aka ‘bubble mailer’ - was enough to keep your tape or CD safe from damage. I’m confident it’ll be fine. I order a lot of music online. Out of hundreds of orders, I’ve only ever received damaged goods twice. And in those cases, it looked like the package had been run over by a large truck. No kind of packaging would have kept those ones safe. So to a degree, these things are in the hands of the gods.
Be advised that neither the CDs nor the cassettes are shrink-wrapped. So when you open your envelope and find an unwrapped item, know that it hasn’t been tampered with. No one will have touched it other than me.
Lots of people ordered both a CD and a cassette. In most cases, both items were purchased in the same order. In other cases, there were two separate orders. I did my best to identify the separate orders going to the same person and package them together. But after all the work was done, I realized I missed a few. So there’s a chance that if you ordered a CD and a cassette separately, they’ll arrive separately too.
In some cases - orders going to the UK, in particular - the shipping time estimate was shockingly long! In those cases, I tried to spend a little extra money to get your order to you a bit faster, even if it cost more than you paid for shipping. No problem there. In most cases for those of you who are overseas, I’m hoping your order will arrive within the month. For all of y’all in North America, it should take no longer than ten days, max.
My man Zack at the Handsmade label advises that more cassettes are being made. Popular demand! The second batch will slightly different (the cassettes themselves will be a different color) and will be made available through the label. I’ll get word out but be sure to keep an eye on the website. Word is, pre-orders for the vinyl will coincide with the release of the second batch of cassettes. Exciting.
I think that’s everything. I’ve never done this before. I took a few envelopes to the post office this morning to ask the clerk-guy if I did everything right with the shipping labels and whatnot and he said everything was ‘perfect’. So all should be good. I’ll be dropping the rest in a mailbox right after this post goes live.
Huge shouts out to Tommy (Controller 7) for helping me get my operation set up. Thanks to my friend Punchy and Graham for their help too. Holy crap, that was a lot of work.
I think that covers everything.
Man Overboard post coming up next.
Until then…
