Yes, y'all.
Update time. Big things!
First things first: King Of Drums deluxe reissue. I'm very excited about this. The King Of Drums album was the impetus for starting this Substack. It was my first new album after a seven-year layoff. It instantly became my favorite album I'd ever made. It will be a special one forever. We really didn't know if we'd be able to sell many copies and so the first press was pretty small - just a few hundred copies. So now comes the second press and it's a quadruple vinyl affair with instrumentals and a lyric sheet insert-thing included. I've never had a deluxe version of anything before, so I'm very excited about it. Once again though, small run. Limited edition, as they say. So pre-order your copy here now or pay friggin' $500 on discogs later. It features the original cover art, by the way, which is dope. Kinda iconic, if you ask me. Shouts out to Controller 7.
Second: I’m very close to finishing the new album. I’m trying not to rush but I’m also feeling the pinch a bit right now and need to scrape a few bucks together. I was kinda hoping to release the next album in all formats on the same day: digital, vinyl, tapes, etc. But given my current situation, I may have to release the kraken digitally first, repeating the sins of the past. How do y’all feel about that? On one hand, you get to hear an album sooner. On the other hand, you gotta wait months to get the physical. I’m hoping you’ll feel it’s a net-positive thing if I do decide to get this thing out sooner than later.
Now, having said that, there’s still a chance I’ll wait (and stay under the pinch) and release that slew of lost material I told you about first. I’m coordinating with all concerned parties now and should have a plan together shortly.
I’d love to say more about the album that is nearing completion now but I’ll hold my tongue. The lyrics are just over 3/4 written. I hope to finish writing a week from now. Then I’ll get busy on the ones and twos. Then I’ll mix and master. All I can say is that this thing is ferocious so far. And many styles are on display.
I think that covers it for the moment. Go get that King Of Drums. That’s my baby and I’m psyched to share the instrumentals with you. I’m guessing you’ll hear things you haven’t heard before. It’s a bit pricey, I know. But it’s a big ol’ box filled with the niceness. It’s a precious thing.
Okay. Busy-busy-busy.
Until the next.
